Participatory budget flyer

As a Civics For All partner school, U.S.A. will be receiving $2,260 of DOE money this year with the condition that students & staff decide how to spend the money to enhance our school.

We are now in the Participatory Budgeting Proposal Generation phase. All USA students, parents and staff have the opportunity to develop and share a short 3 sentence proposal which includes…

1.How should the money be spent? Be as specific as possible with costs & pricing

2.What school need(s) will it address?

3.Why/How will this improve our school?

You can submit proposals here. PROPOSAL SUBMISSIONS CLOSE FRIDAY 2/6/26

Your proposals and involvement in voting count toward earning a NY Seal of Civic Readiness award and diploma accreditation

After our school's steering committee has vetted proposals for cost, feasibility, and initial student interest, approximately 7 proposals will be included on an online ballot to be voted on by all students and all staff at USA.

Our school-wide election is scheduled to take place 2/11-2/15/26 and the winning proposal will be announced after midwinter break. Similar to municipal elections in NYC, we will use ranked choice voting to determine the winning proposal which will be funded and implemented here at U.S.A.  See the full schedule here

Sincerely,

The USA Civics For All Team
